As you probably know, the latest ransomware attack known as “Petya” is spreading throughout the world. Here are a few tips from ESET experts on how to protect yourself against this cyber threat:
- Use reliable anti-malware software and keep it updated. This is a basic but critical component. Just because you have a firewall does not mean you don’t need the anti-malware. You do!
- Run ESET’s EternalBlue Vulnerability Checker to see whether your Windows endpoints are patched against EternalBlue exploit, and patch if necessary.
- Make sure that you have all current Windows updates and patches installed.
BEWARE: It only takes one unpatched computer to get inside the network. From there, the malware can take over administrator rights and spread to other computers.
